Front Cover Layout Planning

I have started to plan layouts for my newspaper front page. For this I have used Microsoft Publisher and drawn up basic plans; boxes highlighting were features on the front cover would be placed. Below are the drafts; I have experimented with both keeping to conventions of layout, and breaking them and being adventurous with format. However, I will now decide which one to go with.

In each, I aim for a large logo/title name to become a semiotic sign of my newspaper brand for easy identification. Large headlines feature as a convention; and only a small section of the main story features due to the perceived wishes of my target audience.

After I have selected which of these rough drafts is most effective, I will begin to construct detailed drafts of the front cover and first page to show; before completing a final design after audience consultation.
